Description
A successful and growing medical communications agency, based in Cheshire, has an opportunity for a Strategic Consultant to join their Consultancy division as a senior member of the team.

Purpose:

As part of the senior consulting team, win and lead the delivery of consultancy projects for the Consulting Division in the following areas: pharmaceutical and healthcare brand strategy, therapy area strategy, customer strategy and marketing excellence. In so doing, contribute to building our client base and achieving the financial objectives of the team.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Consultancy:

Provide strategic consultancy to a wide range of pharmaceutical and healthcare clients, tailoring and adapting our approach to meet clients' specific business needs.

Pharma brand strategy:

Build robust brand strategy with global, cross-functional client teams (including marketing, P&MA, clinical and regulatory) and facilitate interactive client workshops to gain alignment of thinking throughout the brand strategy building process. This includes Market & competitor landscape, customer insight, segmentation, brand vision and positioning, core brand strategy and strategic communications

Therapy area strategy:

Work with multiple brand teams within a therapy area franchise to develop and gain agreement on franchise strategy. Involves extensive research and facilitation of creative workshops to guide client teams in predicting the future market and competitor landscape, therefore achieving an agreed set of assumptions about the future horizon into which their brands will launch. This will include Future market mapping, futures summit workshops and building future focused franchise strategies

Customer strategy:

Conduct bespoke qualitative research to explore specific areas of customer need, gaining insight and providing recommendations to inform the broader commercial strategy.

Pharma marketing excellence:

Provide advice to pharmaceutical clients on best practice marketing, throughout the lifecycle. Involves auditing existing marketing processes, methods/techniques and tools, making recommendations for change, developing and implementing best practice marketing excellence throughout global Pharma organisations.

Leadership and Management:

Contribution to both the strategic direction & the day-to-day operations of running the division, to ensure senior team alignment on strategic direction and efficiency and effectiveness of the daily operations.
Delivery of agreed sales target and performance measures, in conjunction with other members of the management team. Proactively undertake business development to create new opportunities for promoting the company to a wide range of pharmaceutical/healthcare clients in order to secure further work with existing clients and new business with new clients.

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:

  • Life science degree, preferably with accompanying MBA
  • Has sustained and proven senior brand marketing experience in the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry, with evidence of building, driving and delivering brand strategies that differentiate the brand or equivalent.
  • Must have a strong network of pharmaceutical and/or healthcare clients on which to draw, as a pool for business development activities
  • Demonstrates strong capability for business development activity to expand the existing customer base
  • Demonstrates strong understanding of the current pharmaceutical and healthcare environment
  • High level strategic thinking skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and first class communication skills
  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills and commands respect of others
  • An exemplary project manager, attentive to detail with strong organisational skills
  • Outstanding presentation skills
  • Demonstrates ability to facilitate workshops with senior executives and/or opinion leaders
  • Computer literacy
