This company has continued to grow over the last seven years and due to it's ongoing success it is now looking for a number Medical Writers to join teams in either London or Cheshire and can offer a great career development path! Business objectives: Producing high-quality medical copy that meets the client's communication objectives, to budget and on time Ensuring the quality of the team's editorial output Establishing and maintaining good working relationships with colleagues, clients, external authors and opinion leaders Ensuring that medical communications are produced in accordance with the companies standard operating procedures (SOPs) Maintaining and updating knowledge and expertise in relevant subject areas Skills and behaviours:

Responsibilities:
- Interpreting and implementing project briefs from client or other team members
- Clearly identifying the communication objectives of a project by working with a more senior member of the medical or client services team, or, if appropriate, by
- working directly with the client
- Ensuring production of high-quality medical writing across a range of communications, such as journal manuscripts, marketing communications (e.g. newsletters, product monographs), meetings-related materials (e.g. abstracts, slides) and new media (e.g. inter/intranet sites)
- Ensuring that medical copy is scientifically accurate, clear and appropriate to the target audience
- Ensuring that medical copy is produced in accordance with the client's preferred style and that it meets the communication objectives of the client
- Providing suitable original illustrations to accompany text, and ensuring that permission to use illustrations has been obtained from the publisher/author
- Accurately implementing feedback from clients, authors or opinion leaders
- Supporting other team members by data-checking copy to ensure scientific accuracy
- Managing and updating project files
- Calling, attending and contributing to internal project briefing/discussion meetings
- Where appropriate, attending client meeting
- Assisting the Publications Director in monitoring actual writing hours/costs against those budgeted, and where appropriate, implement incremental billing
- Assisting the Account Director/ATL/ETL in producing budgets for projects
- Keeping project files and references up-to-date
- Keeping the ATL/ETL regularly informed about the status of projects
- Alerting the ATL/ETL to potential problems on projects, and discussing possible solutions
- Attending scientific meetings (e.g. conferences, roundtable meetings and workshops) to provide on-site support, gather appropriate information (e.g. notes, tape recordings) for communication outputs and, where appropriate, managing faculty members
- Providing constructive comments when reviewing a colleague's work for medical/scientific content
- Providing mentoring and on-the-job training for more-junior members of the team
- Providing constructive feedback to the ATL on the above two points
- Working with the New Business team to expand current business by suggesting new projects
- Working with the New Business team on the development of proposals and, when required, attending and presenting at new business pitches
Further responsibilities may include:
- Quality controlling a colleague's work (to check for grammar, spelling and consistency) before it is sent to the client
- Production editing the final draft (for accuracy, consistency and readability, in accordance with the the companies SOPs) before it is sent to the client for sign off
- Checking artwork
- Adapting manuscripts to journal requirements
- Checking references to ensure their accuracy and validity
- Preparing submission packs for manuscript submission
