An international medical communications agency requires and Editorial Team Leader to join their team in their offices in the North West.
Purpose:
Provide editorial leadership of account teams by taking responsibility for day-to-day client service and delivery. Manage the full range of high-quality medical communication services, effectively balancing elements of project management and editorial leadership with flexibility to enable writing/editing.
Responsibilities:
Management:
- Lead, coach and motivate Account/project teams: share best practice; provide support and guidance to team members on client and project issues
- Provide a professional perspective on quality procedures and editorial processes within account
- Contribute to short and long-term account resource planning, working with Line Managers help set development objectives of account team members
Client Service:
- Proactively drive projects through to completion
- Provide proactive ideas and creative input to assist and challenge clients' own thinking/planning
Technical Expertise:
- Act as the main source of account/product/therapy area expertise within the company and for the client
- Effectively brief all members of the project team on time allocations, target audiences, client's key messages and schedules, and proactively provide ideas / creative input
- Review output for structure, scientific accuracy and creativity, and against the client's rationale for the work, specific project objectives, key messages, target audiences and consistency with the marketing communication aims
Writing/Editing:
- Write or edit on a range of communication products to ensure the highest quality in line with client needs and appropriate to audience on a variety of therapeutic areas
Financial:
- Actively contribute to and review project specifications/cost estimates/reconciliations and contribute to account plan forecasts
- Ensure that any request for work outside the original specification is discussed with the client and communicated to the Account Manager, as well as the wider project team
Business Development:
- Identify new opportunities to maximise existing accounts and contribute to new proposal development and pitches
- Contribute to, and participate in, new proposal development and pitches
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:
- Science Degree
- Relevant editorial experience across a range of document types.
- Writes effective briefs for others and allocates accurate timings for project activities.
- Can demonstrate experience of:
- Reviewing the work of others and providing constructive feedback
- Effective project management
- Can demonstrate strategic and tactical thinking
- Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills
- Effective and respected team leader
- Attentive to detail with strong organisational skills
