This is a growing medical communications company, based West London. They work on both domestic and global accounts over a number of therapy areas. This is an opportunity to join a progressive agency with an excellent working environment.

The Role:

To direct the development of accounts and the delivery of high-quality projects and communications programmes strategically, effectively, accurately and profitably.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

Client management:

  • Develop close professional relationships with appropriate client personnel to establish trust
  • Provide strategic advice to the client
  • Add value at all stages
  • Challenge client thinking when appropriate
  • Monitor the client relationships to identify early any issues and take the appropriate steps to resolve these, involving senior management if necessary
  • Continuous strategic and financial evaluation of projects and programmes
  • Develop relationships (on behalf of clients) with relevant individuals, organisations and medical experts and ensure that these relationships are managed appropriately

Account and team management:

  • Demonstrate sound decision making and clear thinking
  • Provide strong leadership to the overall team
  • Encourage individual and collective responsibility and accountability within the team
  • Plan resource management carefully in conjunction with other Account Directors and Medical Director
  • Ensure quality and accuracy of all outputs by team members
  • Ensure adherence to company standard operating procedures

Account delivery:

  • Develop a detailed knowledge of the therapeutic areas of own accounts
  • Develop a clear understanding of the core competencies of the company
  • Demonstrate and encourage good organisation and planning
  • Demonstrate ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining accuracy and quality of output
  • Develop a clear understanding of the delivery of global, regional and domestic communications programmes
  • Communicate in a clear, concise and unambiguous manner
  • Demonstrate creative abilities and the ability to facilitate this in others
  • Be aware of new communications methods and technologies

Financial management:

  • Assume ownership and accountability for the financial performance of accounts and projects
  • Comply with all company financial systems
  • Develop realistic income and profit forecasts for programmes and projects
  • Develop realistic, accurate and transparent budgets for programmes and projects
  • Negotiate budgets with clients to ensure appropriate fees and costs for services and goods provided
  • Develop a clear understanding of clients’ financial systems and adhere to these
  • Provide timely, comprehensive and accurate financial reconciliations of programmes and projects

New business development:

  • Explore opportunities to expand the business within existing programmes and with existing clients, in line with company strategy in conjunction with senior management, develop and agree strategies to maximise business
  • Contribute to new business development pitches, demonstrating clear strategic and creative thinking

Package:

Salary will be negotiable dependent upon experience and is accompanied by a good benefits package.
