Description

My client is an award winning medical communications company based in the Home Counties who have a vacancy for a senior account manager.

Purpose:

To build and maintain excellent working relationships with clients in order to understand objectives, standards required and anticipate needs.  To ensure all aspects of management of projects is run smoothly and efficiently.

Main Responsibilities:


Account MAnagement:

  • To build and maintain excellent working relationships with clients from a strategic as well as a tactical point of view. To build close relationships in order to understand objectives, standards required and anticipate needs.
  • To present proposals to clients within the time frame agreed with the client.
  • To achieve the highest standards possible for each and every project and to ensure project success.
  • To ensure future business by recognising opportunities as early as possible, and by bringing the company's capabilities to the attention of the client.
  • To be alert to opportunities for gaining new clients and to liaise effectively with the Business Development Group in turning those opportunities to the maximum advantage.
  • To build close relationships and to communicate effectively with contractors and suppliers, so that high standards of work are maintained amicably.
  • To ensure all reports/documentation/artwork/materials sent to the client are checked by internal medical writers and are of consistently high standards.
  • To build close relationships with all staff so that maximum co-operation and efficiency is operating at all times.  
  • To allocate responsibilities within the project team for each project. Thereafter to monitor progress.
  • To allocate the distribution of business within the group in liaison with the Director and colleagues in other groups.
  • To schedule/plan the work load for allocated accounts for each year, year on year.
  • To advise the client on future strategy/projects/coming events in order to maximise opportunities whilst keeping in mind benefits for the client.
  • To exceed client expectations and add value to the client's relationship with the Company.


Project Management:

  • To drive the project internally and within the client company.
  • To construct proposals when new business arises.
  • To administer the project effectively  ‑ and in such a way that other colleagues can gain instant access to any information they require relating to the project.
  • To constantly monitor, liaise with, and update all members of the project team on a regular basis.
  • To construct a time and event schedule, and ensure that deadlines for suppliers, clients and colleagues are adhered to.
  • To arrange and attend client project meetings.
  • To produce reports, budgets, time schedules and agendas for colleagues and clients.
  • To produce briefing documents and meeting support material for client briefing meetings as required.

 
People Management:

  • To lead and motivate the team towards successful project completion.
  • To support team members when necessary.
  • To be sensitive to the demands of other projects/teams, and to negotiate/prioritise accordingly.
  • To provide regular feedback to the director regarding all aspects of the project.

The ideal candidate would have:

  • Pharmaceutical industry knowledge and experience
  • Experience in writing strategic communications proposals
  • Life science or marketing degree
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • The ability to travel overseas
  • The ability and enthusiasm to work in a fast paced environment


Remuneration:

Good salary and benefits including: Life assurance of 3 x salary  (on commencement), Private health insurance (on commencement), Group personal pension (after 12 months service) and bonus. 20 days holiday, increasing by 1 day per year up to a maximum of 25 days (after 3 years service), plus in addition the office is closed between Christmas and New Year.
