Description

My client is an extremely well known communications agency based in the North West. Continued success requires the addition of an Account Director to their team.

Principal purpose of the role:

  • Lead / Direct client accounts by taking ultimate responsibility for overall client service and financial delivery, identifying opportunities to increase the level of business, and identifying resource requirements on the account.

Core tasks/responsibilities:

Internal Leadership/Management:

  • Lead and develop the internal account team, providing support and advice on client and project issues. 
  • Ensure project teams are focused and motivated to deliver.
  • Develop close working relationships with team members in order to enable/facilitate the provision of regular feedback on performance, both directly and to line managers. 
  • Ensure adequate resourcing of accounts, working alongside Line Managers and Project Leaders to drive resource forecasting and to highlight any issues before they impact on team performance or the client relationship.
  • Contribute to succession planning for both account teams and functional groups.
  • Line manage/develop/mentor staff as required/appropriate.

Client Management:

  • Contribute to own accounts through hands-on management of the client and, where appropriate, liaison with opinion leaders.
  • Ensure any changes in the internal account team are managed and communicated appropriately with the client. 
  • Ensure a continuing good relationship with clients and that a consistently efficient and effective service are provided.  Personally establish positive long-term relationships with appropriate key staff in client organisations, including senior managers as appropriate.
  • Conduct regular client meetings to review project performance, including co-ordination of annual client health-check meetings.
  • Develop an extensive client network and become an expert in the needs of those clients.

Strategic and Commercial insight:

  • Provide strategic input / commercial insight to clients and to the internal team.
  • Ensure clients receive proactive ideas and creative input to assist and also challenge their own thinking and planning.
  • Keep abreast of developments and attitudes in the worldwide healthcare environment at industry, government and health service level.  Develop sources of information, particularly through contacts with relevant people.

Business Development:

  • Work with the Business Development Director to exploit new business opportunities.
  • Develop new business opportunities, ventures and ideas to propose to both existing and new clients, which will benefit both clients and the company.
  • Contribute strongly to new proposal development and participate in pitches for new business, where expertise is required.
  • Work with Creative Services to maximise all opportunities in creative solutions for medical communications and vice versa.
  • Manage business development activities and budget as allocated.

Financial:

  • Oversee financial management of accounts.
  • Develop and sign-off account plans and deliver agreed fee-growth targets.
